Prof Alistair Mokoena elected as Vice Chair of the Board

SABSA is delighted to announce the election of Prof Alistair Mokoena as Vice Chair for a two-year term, from April 2026 to April 2028. Prof Mokoena will work closely with Chair Prof Cobus Oosthuizen, Prof Chris van der Hoven and General Manager Anne Wilson in supporting the work of the association in the period ahead. As Executive Dean of the Johannesburg Business School, and with senior leadership experience that includes serving as Google’s Country Director for Southern Africa, Prof Mokoena brings a valuable blend of academic leadership, strategic insight and industry experience.

His election comes at an important moment for management education. SABSA’s work is centred on strengthening collaboration across South African business schools, advancing quality and standards, supporting leadership and skills development, and ensuring that management education remains relevant, responsive and impactful. It also includes fostering dialogue across institutions and with government, industry and civil society, contributing to policy conversations, and helping grow a strong, inclusive business education sector.

In that context, Prof Mokoena’s appointment is significant. Business schools have a critical role to play in shaping leaders who can navigate complexity with judgement, integrity and purpose. Strong institutions do not grow in isolation; they grow through collaboration, shared learning and a clear commitment to excellence.
